The stage is alive at the Barn Theater – West Central Tribune

The Barn Theater offers three performances scheduled for the summer season.

The first performance, “Shrek the Musical,” directed by Casey Paradies, will be presented June 9-11, 16-18 and 23-25 ​​at 7:30 p.m. and June 12, 19 and 26 at 2 p.m.

The Barn’s second performance, “Agatha Christie Murder on the Orient Express,” written by Ken Ludwig and directed by Tom Orth, will be shown August 11-13 and August 16-19 at 7:30 p.m. and August 14 at 14h.

The September show, “The Odd Couple,” written by Neil Simon and directed by Jan Buzzeo, will be presented September 22-24 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on September 25 at 2 p.m. The show continues from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m. with another matinee on Oct. 2.

Costumes hang in the basement of the Barn Theater in Willmar. In April and May 2021, the theater held introductory workshops in acting, costume design, choreography, set design and more.

Founded in 1965 in a former stable, The Barn Theater has been providing community theater to local audiences for over 50 years. Located in the Cardinal Square building in downtown Willmar, it has 220 seats. Amenities include handicap accessible parking, handrails on aisle seats and hearing aids.

The Barn Theater’s mission is “to provide the community with affordable, quality performing arts”. The barn encourages community involvement, provides opportunities for personal growth for its volunteers, displays and develops talent, and provides fine arts leadership.
