Nearly four decades after their debut, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are finally getting the recognition they deserve as the Hollywood Walk of Fame announced that the iconic band will be getting their own star.
According to Billboard, the rock band was formed in Los Angeles, California, and one of their commercially successful albums, “Californication,” was dedicated to the city.
On Monday, the organization behind the Hollywood Walk of Fame announced that the group would get their star in the second row at 6212 Holywood Boulevard.
The iconic plaque will be placed alongside iconic industry names like Pat Sajak, Jack Paar, Harry Friedman and more.
The band’s producer for the “Freaky Stylety” album, George Clinton, will unveil the star on March 31 along with Woody Harrelson, Bob Forrest and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President Nicole Mihalka.
In an interview with Variety, Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said they’re waiting for the Red Hot Chili Peppers to get out of their busy schedules to finally get the commemoration.
“We are thrilled to welcome them to our Walk of Fame family,” added Martinez.
The band is not the first rock band to have this huge honor, as the organization has already paid tribute to iconic bands like The Beatles, Chicago, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, The Doors, Fleetwood Mac, Jane’s Addiction and many more. .

Red Hot Chili Peppers will release an album one day after the commemoration
According to the outlet, the group is set to release their next album titled “Unlimited Love” on April 1, a day after receiving their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The album also marks the return of John Frusciante from 1988 to 2006.
Frusciante previously said in an interview that they brought in new ideas and turned the jams into a track before playing new songs.
“The feeling of effortless fun we had when playing other people’s songs stayed with us throughout our writing. To me, this record represents our love and faith for each other,” said the musician.
In addition to a new record, the rock band will also go on a world tour this summer starting in Spain before coming to the United States for 19 concerts.
This is the first time the Red Hot Chili Peppers have staged a stadium tour in their home country.
The legendary band will be joined by some of the biggest names in music like St. Vincent, Haim, Thundercat, Anderson .Paak & the Free Nationals, King Princess, Beck, and more.
