The Saffron Walden Musical Theater Company (SWTC) has launched a casting call for a young actor who will play a key role in its upcoming production of Naughty boots.
The award-winning community group put on a show every March at Saffron Walden Town Hall.
For 2022, the company has chosen a production with music and lyrics by Girls just wanna have fun pop singer Cyndi Lauper, based on Harvey Fierstein’s book.
It tells the story of Charlie Price. Having inherited a shoe factory from his father, Charlie forms a quirky partnership with cabaret performer and drag queen Lola to produce a line of high-heeled boots and save the company.
SWTC is looking for a young male actor, between the ages of eight and 12, to play the youthful version of Simon/Lola in their centennial production.
A spokesperson said: “Our young Simon/Lola will be able to move and sing well and will play young Deejay Latchman. This is a fabulous opportunity for a young local to be part of a brilliant production.”
