In photos: Local Natives in concert at the Greenfield Lake Amphitheater

WILMINGTON — Local Natives, an American indie rock band from Los Angeles, performed at the Greenfield Lake Amphitheater on August 22.

Taylor Rice (vocals, guitar), Kelcey Ayer (vocals, keyboards, guitar), Ryan Hahn (guitar, backing vocals), Matt Frazier (drums) and Nik Ewing (bass) have released four albums – the first three debuting at United States graphics. 2019’s single “When Am I Gonna Lose You” from “Violet Street” ranked number five on the US AAA.

In 2020, the group released a four-song EP, “Sour Lemon”, amid the Covid-19 pandemic and held a one-off live concert. It included the track “Lemon”, featuring Sharon Van Etten. At the Wilmington gig last week, opener Jordana stepped in with the band to fill in Etten’s vocals.

Jordana Nye is known for creating “chamber pop,” a genre of cozy melodies that takes her hat off to 90s indie sounds, created in lo-fi in non-traditional spaces.

Here’s the Local Natives setlist, with photos of both acts by Tom Dorgan of MoonFrog Media.
