Children’s Theater Camp Across the American Stage, Summer 2022

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — If there’s a budding artist in your household, American Stage Education recently opened registration for summer camp for kids and teens.

According to American Stage staff, students will experience theater activities such as choreography, directing, ensemble exercises and music in the classroom during the camp, which begins in June.

“Campers will have the opportunity to learn about areas of interest in the world of theater and to develop as artists, while learning life skills such as collaboration, communication and self -responsibility,” John Perez, US Associate Stage Education and Engagement, mentioned.

Children of all skill levels are welcome and no previous experience is required, Perez said.

Classes will be delivered by professional teacher artists with a background in cultural competence and inclusion to help students enhance their creative, intellectual and emotional growth.

“We have week-long sessions in comedy, musical theater, playwriting, etc.,” Perez said. “And with offerings for campers from kindergarten through high school, we’re confident we can help everyone express their creative voice.”

Camp sessions run Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Admiral Farragut Academy. Students will rehearse on stage and spend time in a classroom setting.

Pre-care and post-care options are available upon request. Financial assistance applications are available for those in need. American Stage offers a 10% discount for military families and teachers.
